It is believed that Seychelles was created by God specifically for sailors and yachtsmen. The islands are a paradise of unprecedented beauty, with each island being unique in its own way. It is a real museum of wildlife, in all its splendor, which can only be experienced when traveling on a yacht. The National Marine Park on the island of Mahe, a nature reserve on the island of Praslin, has a huge number of granite and coral islands, endless lagoons, and picturesque bays. Yacht anchorages in the lagoons are quite safe, and you can spend the night there to enjoy the charm of the morning on an island paradise with the first rays of the sun.

    Features of Yachting in Seychelles

Difficulty level: High. Yachting in Seychelles is recommended for experienced yachtsmen. The area is affected by tidal water with a tide amplitude of 1.5 meters. Ocean currents, coral reefs, and sandbanks require constant vigilance while sailing. When moving, it is necessary to constantly monitor changes in the seabed, as the navigation maps of the region are not very reliable. Night navigation is prohibited. The most popular rental option is catamarans.

Season: Seychelles has a tropical climate with little temperature fluctuation. From December to May, it is the wet season, with an air temperature of +31°C and water temperature of +26°C, with frequent but short tropical downpours. The yachting season in Seychelles is year-round, and the most favorable time is from April to June and from September to November.

Winds: From November to April, a northwesterly wind of 15-20 knots prevails. Since May, the direction changes to the southeast. In December, a northern storm of 7-8 points is possible, while in July, there is a probability of a southern storm.

    Seychelles Yacht Route From Praslin

Description: This is a 7-day itinerary for a yacht trip around Seychelles in the Indian Ocean from Praslin Island. It includes a detailed description of stops with GPS coordinates and distances (in miles) for daily sea crossings in Seychelles.

    Distance: 120 nautical miles

Stops: Praslin – Curieuse – La Digue – Cousine – Mahe – Beau Vallon – Coco – Grand Seur – Praslin

Seychelles is an archipelago located in the western part of the Indian Ocean, which is the top of a granite massif, a kind of fragment of the once-unified Gondwana continent. The 75 large islands are composed mainly of granite, and the small ones are atolls, which are coral islands. Seychelles offers a very rare commodity in today’s hectic world – absolute peace, solitude, and a measured rhythm of life, if not the complete absence of it. Nature has endowed this archipelago with unique vegetation with a myriad of coconut palms on the coast of the islands and azure shores covered with white sand. All this together truly resembles a piece of paradise on earth, and it is quite difficult to believe that Seychelles has an exceptionally turbulent past. The Portuguese navigator Vasco da Gama was the first to notice the territory of Seychelles in the 15th century, but then it was forgotten about for two centuries. In the 18th century, the French settled there and brought slaves, and they also established spice plantations. Then the islands were captured by Britain: first, it was annexed to Mauritius, then it was separated into a separate colony, and in the end, several islands were taken, turning them into “British territory”. In 1976, the archipelago gained independence, and then it became an offshore zone. After the opening of the international airport, Seychelles has become a luxurious and popular exotic resort, attracting visitors from all over the world.

In conclusion, Seychelles is one of the most beautiful and exotic destinations for yachting in the world. With its crystal-clear waters, picturesque bays, and diverse marine life, it’s the perfect place for those looking for an unforgettable yachting experience. However, it is essential to have experience in yachting and knowledge of the area’s features before embarking on a trip. Yacht charter hosts and airports are available on both Praslin Island and Mahe Island. The yachting season is year-round, but the best time to visit is from April to June and from September to November. So, set sail and explore the natural beauty of Seychelles on a yacht charter adventure.
