Dubai Marina is a relatively new, elite area of Dubai located around an artificial lagoon. The lagoon, known as Dubai Marina, is home to numerous marinas and stretches between Dubai’s busy Sheikh Zayed Road and the coast of the Persian Gulf. The area is much larger than just an array of skyscrapers located south of the lagoon. It starts from almost the entrance to the Palm Jumeirah artificial island, runs south of the Dubai Media City free economic zone, and includes Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) as well as shopping and entertainment centers, such as The Beach and Dubai Marina Mall, making it one of the busiest areas in the city.
While some locals refer to the Dubai Marina area only as the array of skyscrapers, it is important to note that Jumeirah Beach Residence, located north of the lagoon closer to the coast, is also part of Dubai Marina, as shown on the map.
The location of Dubai Marina is unrivaled, with winding canals and wharfs dotted with million-dollar yachts overlooked by residential skyscrapers. Many attractions within the area bear the name Dubai Marina, such as Dubai Marina Mall or The Address Dubai Marina hotel. However, it’s worth noting that the popular Dubai Marine Beach Resort & Spa hotel has nothing to do with the Dubai Marina area.
