The 34th Marmaris Sailing Week will take place from October 28 to November 3, 2023, at the Netsel Marina in Marmaris. The program includes the gathering of participants, registration, and training exit on October 28 and 29, racing days on October 30, 31, and November 1, an open sea race on November 2, and a race in the bay of Marmaris on November 3. The regatta is a series of yacht races for the speed of passing the distance, and the winners of the regatta are determined by the sum of the points in the races.
The Role of the Participant and What is Included in the Price
During the race, the crew members, under the guidance of the skipper, perform various operations to control the sails so that the yacht goes as fast as possible. The participation fee includes accommodation on a yacht in a double cabin, bed linen, towels, entry fee for participation in the regatta, regatta uniform, and the cost of preparing the yacht for racing. Additional expenses include flight and transfer to the marina, nutrition, sports risk insurance, used fuel, registration fee for the competition, and the hotel in case of accommodation not on a yacht. Nutrition can be obtained from cafes and restaurants on the shore or cooked on the yacht, and the approximate cost of lunch in a restaurant in the city is 40 – 70 liras (7 – 12 euros per person) without alcohol.
What Do I Need to Bring with Me?
Participants are advised to bring shoes for yachts, with non-slip soft light soles, long sleeve shirts for racing in sunny weather, waterproof clothing for racing in the rain, toiletries, medication, warm clothes for the evening, and bathing clothes. It is recommended to take a soft sports bag instead of a hard suitcase since there is no place to store it on the yacht.
Can I Take My Family?
It is possible to take the family and stay at a hotel in Marmaris. The city has a long promenade, beaches, bicycle paths, outdoor playgrounds for small children, gyms, tennis courts, bowling, and comfortable SPA salons with good programs for massages and caring procedures. The event is a great opportunity to stock up on sunshine before the upcoming winter, and the sports yachting community welcomes beginners and experienced sailors alike.
