There is a multitude of beaches worldwide for nudists to enjoy, and in the era of Antiquity, nudity was not considered taboo. On the contrary, it was seen as a symbol of spiritual and physical perfection. Even though nudity was banned in the Middle Ages, there were still many fans of nudism who gathered in groups and enjoyed themselves. This movement began to flourish in the 19th century.

For those who love sunbathing and swimming in the warm sea in the nude, there are designated beaches. Croatia, Spain, and Greece are some of the most popular destinations. Greece, in particular, has numerous nudist beaches scattered throughout the country’s shores and islands. In these areas, no one will judge a person for being naked.

In Greece, nudism is accepted as normal, and locals often visit these areas along with tourists who come to the country specifically to get rid of their clothes and feel completely free. The picturesque landscapes, gentle sun, and fabulous bays encourage people to merge with nature.

Nude beaches attract tourists who prefer nudity to branded swimwear. Many people struggle to choose a beach due to its vast selection. The most popular places for nudists on the island of Mykonos are Paradise and Super Paradise, where locals also come to admire the naked bodies. Close to these exotic beaches is a small campsite, where visitors can rest at an affordable cost.

In today’s world, people face numerous difficulties such as stress, external pressures, and business problems that affect their emotional well-being. Sunbathing naked, diving into the most alluring waters, and experiencing perfect freedom can provide a sense of relief. Skin-caressing water and the soothing touch of the sun are some of the many pleasures found on nude beaches in Greece. Here, individuals can feel completely free and happy.

Until recently, most of these beaches were secluded and difficult to access, and only a few could afford to visit them. Many were unaware of their existence. However, today, everything has changed. Although there are no signs to guide visitors to these beaches, information and their locations are easily accessible online. This article will provide information on the top ten nude beaches in Greece so that visitors can immerse themselves in the local way of life and discover what the locals know.

Greece is one of the best places for nudists, and there are various apps that can help people locate the closest nude beach. However, which beaches are the safest and most beautiful?

The island of Antiparos is home to a popular nudist beach that attracts visitors from all over the world, including actors, artists, and other creative individuals. Camping Antiparos, with its turquoise waters and sandy beach, is a favorite spot among returning travelers seeking a quiet and peaceful getaway. The beach is easily accessible by ferry from Punta (20 minutes) or Caxom (45 minutes), or by boat from Parikia (25 minutes).

Crete is a paradise for nudists due to its numerous isolated beaches, particularly on the southern side. Whether you prefer pebbles or fine sand, you will find a wealth of options in the south of Crete. The Kokkini Ammos (Red Sand Beach) near Matala is a great spot for a relaxing vacation. The Neolithic caves above the beach of Matala were once home to Joni Mitchell. Crete can be reached by direct flight or via Athens.

Super Paradise in Mykonos was the first official nude beach in Greece, offering visitors a liberating sense of freedom. It is an excellent option for those seeking a break from crowded and noisy parties. Accessing the beach from Mykonos is easy and fast by bus or taxi.

Kalotaritissa on Donusa Island is a unique destination for sunbathers who enjoy pebbles and sand, invigorating waters, and perfect peace and quiet. The island has a relaxed vibe, with numerous campsites and remote beaches like Livadi for peaceful strolls. The atmosphere on the island is indescribable and must be experienced firsthand. You can reach Donusa by ferry from the port of Piraeus.

Chiliadou Beach in Evia is another favorite among nudists, thanks in part to its remote and untouched location. The lack of amenities, such as 5G internet and sun loungers, only adds to the appeal for those seeking a wild and natural beach experience. The beach can be reached by car from Athens in 40-45 minutes.

Mikri Banana in Skiathos, adjacent to Megali Banana, has long been a favored nudist spot. While it used to be a wild beach, today there are umbrellas, sun loungers, a beach bar with music, and lounges managed by the Nudist Club of Greece. It is a popular destination for tourists and can be reached by foot from Koukunares beach in 15 minutes.

Gypsy Afiarti on Karpathos has become a popular nudist beach due to its stunning scenery and peaceful atmosphere. The blue-green waters provide a serene backdrop for visitors seeking to relax and unwind. The beach can be reached by plane.

Velanio Beach, Skopelos. Velanio Beach, a nudist beach, is located just a short distance from Skopelos town. To reach this beautiful and secluded beach, one must pass through the popular and crowded Stafilos Beach. Velanio Beach can be found behind the rocks, making it a perfect destination for those seeking a more private and tranquil experience.

Mirtiotissa Nudist Beach, Corfu. Mirtiotissa Beach is one of the most beloved and sought-after destinations for naturists. Lawrence Durrell once referred to it as possibly the most beautiful beach in the world. Today, it remains a haven for those who prefer to sunbathe and swim in the nude. It is located adjacent to the popular Glyfada Beach and can be accessed by bus, taxi, or car from Konfu.

Galifos Beach, Folegandros. For those who seek to immerse themselves in a magical world of incredible beauty and warm seas while swimming naked, Galifos Beach is the ideal destination. This secluded cove is nestled between impressive cliffs, providing a tranquil and serene atmosphere for naturists to enjoy. Other nearby beaches, including Katergo, Agios Georgios, and Lygaria, are also open to nudists, and can only be accessed by foot or boat.

For those who want to enjoy a nude sunbathing and swimming experience in Athens, Limanakia Beach is the perfect destination. It is approximately 25 minutes away by car from Athens and can be reached by following a dirt path from the main road that leads to a bay surrounded by smooth, flat rocks.

If you are a nudist and prefer not to camp, then resorts such as the Angel Club in Rhodes, the Vritomartis Crete Resort in Sfakia, South Crete, and the Vassaliki Nudist Club are available for you to enjoy.

There are also several small nudist beaches that are popular with city dwellers, including Mavro Lithari (located between the coastal towns of Saronida and Anavyssos), a pebbly beach to the left of Cape Sounio under the imposing Temple of Poseidon, and Ramuntos Beach (located just over an hour’s drive from Athens towards Grammatiko).
